Scarecrows on the Square

Come and see how creative Tipton County can be. All through the month scarecrows can be found gracing Covington's Historic Square. All scarecrows are made from recycled materials and can be seem throughout the entire month of October. Click here for more information.


Third Thursday

A Business After Hours networking event held on the 'Third Thursday' of every month from 5pm-6pm at various Chamber Member Businesses. The event is open to all who live, work, visit or have interest in ANY aspect of Tipton County. Checkout the Chamber Facebook page each month for the location.  This monthly event is really a lot of fun.  


Chocolate Tour
This annual event takes place the Saturday before Valentine's Day. Take a tour around Covington's Historic Square as you taste chocolate from our local retail stores. This fast growing event is a favorite of visitors from surrounding areas. Tickets are required for this event. Click here for more information.

Music on the Square
Every April and May, the City hosts a free music festival on the historic square in Covington. The music begins at 7:00 pm and ends around 9:00 pm. A children’s music time is held during the half time activities. Local non-profit vendors have plenty of food and drink for sale. Bring your lawn chair for a relaxing evening of good music and visiting with neighbors.  Click here for more information.

Heritage Day with Arts and Crafts

Heritage Festival is a time honored tradition in Covington scheduled on the 4th Saturday of September each yearThere will be live music, good food, lots of arts and crafts and antiques, several exhibitors, and lots of activities for kids! New in 2017 was the addition of two days for the event, Thursday and Friday leading into Heritage weekend, during which a community Farm to Table dinner is hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and tours of Historic homes and buildings are available by horse-drawn carriage tour company. Industrial Appreciation Golf Tournament 
As the name suggests, this 4-person scramble is intended as a thank you to our local manufacturers for all they do for our community. Held in the Fall, this event is hosted by our Covington-Tipton County Chamber of Commerce.  Click here for more information.

Tipton County Bar-B-Que Festival

The Tipton County Bar-B-Que Festival, home of The World's Oldest Bar-B-Que cooking contest, is held each year in Cobb Parr Memorial Park in June. Events for this festival include Memphis in May sanctioned bar-b-que cooking contest, a demolition derby, arts and crafts exhibits, a truck pull, live bands and many other fun activities. Since its origin in 1973, the festival has grown to be the main annual attraction in Covington. Teams from all over the mid-south come to Covington to compete in this three day event. Spectators have also grown in number. Tipton Countians know its bar-b-que time when they drive up Highway 51 and see the parking lots full. We hope you will come to the World's oldest Bar-b-Que to see the sights, smell the aromas and taste the foods Tipton Countians are known for.

Dickens Christmas - Historic Square in Covington
Each year on the second Saturday of December, our historic square is transformed into a Christmas setting of mid-Victorian England. The public is invited to take part as characters or just come enjoy this event which features caroling, carriage rides, puppet shows, storytelling, period dance demonstrations, Father Christmas, food, beautiful decorations, and more.  Click here for more information.
