Major Functions:
A Kennel Technician is responsible for the direct care of the animals at our facility. The primary responsibility of a Kennel Technician is to provide animals with their daily needs while maintaining a clean and healthy environment at the shelter.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
Clean and disinfect kennel and other areas of the shelter
Feed and water animals
Provide positive human interactions with shelter animals
Maintain a clean and healthy environment at facility
Observe animals for behavioral and health related problems and report them to a supervisor
Perform formal assessments
Put together play groups with two or more dogs
Daily needed care for cats and kittens
Administer vaccinations and medications to animals
Check in, sort, and store donations
Clean and maintain outside dog runs
Perform miscellaneous duties as instructed by supervisor
 
Qualifications/Requirements:
Knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to carry out the above responsibilities.
Genuine concern, compassion and respect for animals
Strong desire to learn about animals and their proper care
Dependability and strong work ethic
Ability to work some weekends and holidays
Able to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks.
Highly motivated and a self-starter who possesses the ability to multitask and operate in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work under high stress situations.
Commitment to our mission and values.
Knowledge of animal welfare a plus.
 
Working Conditions:
Work schedule may be flexible, and will be some weekends and holidays. The physical demands of the position include sitting, standing, and walking; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of 50 lbs.; and stooping, kneeling, reaching, handling.
